Beta Readers

Beta Readers

I’ve reached the phase where I’m sharing with others. My Beta Readers as well as my Copy Editor and my Alpha Reader.

This quote by Erma Bombeck is right on the money. The anxiety that comes with sharing a part of your heart and soul is intimidating and scary. The people I’ve trusted with this are amazing people, and I know they will do the best job they can do.

Getting closer to being finished. Doing all my research for Query Letters and finding the ones that I feel may best represent me.

Thank you for joining me on my journey.

Editing: Take Two

Editing: Take Two

Began my second round of editing yesterday. I’m trying to get it done while also juggling remote learning for my youngest as well as running to the ice rink for my oldest. Fixing lunch and running errands also fits in there as well. Did I mention I’m also running to answer the doorbell every few minutes because the playmate for the youngest keeps coming back asking if she can play yet.

I need to include this in a future novel. Ha! Until then I’ll just sit here and edit with my buddy, Boo.

What I’m seeing now as I write. She goes wherever I go. I love her so much.
Rainy Day Monday

Rainy Day Monday

I do love a rainy day. I’ll be the first to tell you that. It always reminds me of that moment when you’re starting to wake up but your brain hasn’t fully grasped the idea yet. You’re in between two worlds and it’s a hazy place to be. That moment is my favorite. It reminds me of a day of rain and clouds and the sound is the best sound I can think of.

Last week I went into our spare bedroom after everyone was asleep and the house was quiet, and dark, and I laid across the bed and listened to the quiet. I listened to the rain. The only thing missing was the cicadas but it’s gotten too cold for them so they’ve moved on.

We spent some time during this summer at a tree house that’s local to us. The lovely woman has turned her grandchildren’s tree house into a B&B and it was wonderful. We got to experience a thunderstorm while we were there and I was in heaven. It’s a memory that I tried to recreate the other night and it was close.

I’m off to work on Book Covers and try not to re-read/edit the book. I’ve got to add something to the ending, but I’m trying to let it sit so I can look at it from a new place.

Summer storm in the treehouse.
We Have A Name

We Have A Name

My alternate Blog title was, What’s In A Name but I thought that might be a bit too on the nose. So, anyway. I have finally come up with the name of my book. Without further ado, I present for you, Giving Cheek!!

I don’t know why it took me so long to come up with it when it’s been staring me in the face the entire time. Ha. I have already been mulling around ideas for the next in the series. Very exciting!

The Book Cover is the next to be tackled.

This is why I don’t get anything done. Bailey distracts me. She’s the best distraction ever though. (She’s chasing a caterpillar that’s outside the window.)

These Nights Are Late

These Nights Are Late

Two nights in a row I’ve been up after midnight rewriting. With two girls at home during the day it’s tough to find the quiet to be able to think clearly. I love having them home but momma needs to figure something else out.

Is anyone else having challenges with their writing right now? How have you had to adjust?

Have I mentioned I’m a photographer also? I used to do it as a part time time job. I thoroughly enjoy it. You’ll see evidence of my work here. I try to add a bit every day.

Writing- love it or hate it

Writing- love it or hate it

Getting closer to being finished! This is a learning process. I already have an idea for the next one but this one has to be finished first. Next step is editing and then I’ll pass it around to family and friends while I edit for the second time. I’ve read different variations on how and how many times to edit. I’m going to get this done!!

This is me looking to the sky for divine inspiration on how to finish this novel.
